We had planned to replace 2 furnaces and they advised us not to replace the 2nd furnace even though it was 40 years old because that model was extremely reliable.

Ryan installed a new humidifier in our house. We chose his company based on recommendations on this site & on Nextdoor. Well deserved praise, we highly recommend as well!

Professiomal, knowlegeable, courteous, price seemed competitive but did not obtain additional bids to compare. I chose Welter based on Checkbook ratings.

Where to Find Good HVAC Help

To make sure your heating and air-conditioning systems work when needed, they must be properly installed and maintained. We’ve rated area heating and air-conditioning services for quality and price.

What to Do If You Need HVAC Repairs

If you need repairs, our ratings of local businesses will help you find a good company to perform them.

Choosing New HVAC Equipment and Getting It Installed Properly

How well a new HVAC system performs, and how much it costs, depends heavily on its design and the quality of installation. It’s important to make the right decisions—and there are many to make. You also must make sure to get a fair contract.

HVAC Equipment Features to Consider

If you are installing new equipment, in addition to making choices about energy efficiency, you will need to decide whether to pay extra for various features. Here is a summary of the types of add-ons.

Maintaining Your HVAC Equipment

The most important maintenance task for HVAC systems is something you can do yourself—replacing the air filter. Check your filter monthly. When a filter has a matting of dirt—i.e., it’s difficult to see through when you hold it up to a light—it’s time to replace it.

HVAC Maintenance Contracts Are Usually Bad Buys

Rather than paying for individual maintenance visits and repair jobs, you might consider getting a service contract for air-conditioning and/or heating equipment. Many companies try to persuade customers to enter into such contracts.
