Bonfe charged $14,377 to replace a 30 year old boiler. Boehm would have charged $8750 for the same work.

I first used Bonfe to discuss a tankless water heater. I should have done some more comparison shopping because I WAY overpaid. The offered a maintenance plan, which I accepted because it gave me a greater discount on the water heater than the yearly cost of the plan. It also included a yearly furnace inspection. After literally 12 plus calls asking me to schedule the inspection, I accepted. However, the real reason for the "free" inspection is to sell you a new furnace, which the tech person started hawking even before seeing the furnace. He said he discovered a cracked heat exchanger and pushed me to get a new furnace, even though the heat exchanger was under warranty. I declined. I feel like these inspections are an excuse to sell you a new furnace. Service technicians are really sales people. Also, they make you wait the whole day, rather than give you a timeframe (not even morning or afternoon). On a service call for the water heater (stopped working), they cancelled after waiting the entire day, so I had to wait ANOTHER whole day for them to finally come.

Bonfe is a good company, but they are too expensive for the quality received. I use their service plan; however, even with discounts, the cost to service or to replace items is much higher than one might expect. The office staff are pleasant, but I have gotten different responses regarding overall fees, wait times, and general scheduling. My biggest reason to not recommend Bonfe as a 'go-to' is because they no longer schedule by time block. You can request that they come after 12 or in the morning, but they make it clear that they will call when a technician is available. As a result, I just prepare to stay close to home until the service is done for the day.
