We had an awning and new back door put in by an employee of Hearth construction. I was very impressed with the young man who did the work. He was on time, and a very hard worker who seemed to really take pride in the work he did. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for someone to do construction. We knew the price estimate before he started and feel we were charged appropriately.

After visiting a home that Harth built, we were so impressed with the quality of construction that we contracted their "small projects" group to replace our front door and sidelights. We dealt with one of their employees who took complete measurements (twice) and indicated that he would do the job - 1 person, 1 day. They ordered the product and scheduled the installation. When the day came to do the install, we were informed that he was no longer with the company. Instead they sent 2 people, who took 2 entire days to do the job. Obviously not a task they were familiar with. During the job, they informed me that they had to grind down the concrete step. Why I do not know. And after they finished the install, the storm door, (that had previously fit perfectly), had a gap of over an inch at the bottom. We could not get a door sweep to fit the gap, so now we get snow and debris in the gap between the storm door and the door, even when the storm door is closed. And, we cannot use the screen, because bugs would get in anyway. When the job was complete, they presented me with a bill over $1000 more than their original estimate. I was told that was because it took 2 people 2 days. To their credit, when I objected, they charged their original estimate. Again their home construction was excellent, but this job was not. So I guess the moral of the story is when dealing with a company, be sure that the specific people assigned to the job are qualified and experienced with the task they are doing.
