I made a mistake of not asking if they had a basic service charge when I called to schedule repair service. No question about the tech's qualifications. Tom came out checked the problem and quoted exorbitant price of $319 to remove and replace a defective part. If I did not want the service, I would have to pay $100 service charge. The call taker could have disclosed this up front. Lack of transparency! Part pricing was also quite high but I suppose that's the norm in this service sector.

We found this small company via a recommendation app - similar to Angi. As far as we are aware, this is basically a one-man shop. The gentleman who owns the business and who has come to our home on several occasions is an expert at what he does, and he advises us on the options open. He tries to save us money whenever possible; when he tried to fix our refrigerator's water dispenser a couple of months ago, he researched options for parts online, for several days after he'd visited us. Unfortunately, the manufacturer had stopped making parts for our refrigerator about 2 years ago. The time before this last visit, about 6 months ago, not only did he replace the hose going into the refrigerator to the water dispenser but he also reset the hose to go into the proper receptacle in the refrigerator. (A general contractor who had renovated our kitchen had hooked up the hose to the wrong "nozzle" in the refrigerator.) The service call charge is probably a bit above average, but this makes you think twice about calling a repair person unnecessarily, and this repair professional does apply the service call charge to any work that you have him do for you. He is worth it: an experienced, friendly, helpful professional. We will continue to have Presidential do any appliance repair work for us.
