They finished our basement a few years ago. I wasn't as savvy at the time on area contractors because I had been overseas a number of years. My Builder started out okay, but the sub contractors were not pleasant. Especially the bathroom guys that put in the tile completely wrong. My wife pointed it out and the guy yelled at her because it would cost him money to do it correctly. Eventually, it was corrected to our satisfaction. As for the rest of the products and cutting corners were the norm. Very evident profit margin was paramount. I do not consider the owner of My Builder to very honorable.

They do mostly basement refinishing. I had a small bathroom remodeled. The owner was fine and gave me a great price, and seemed to have a handle on what needed to be done. The tile workers and plumber were great. They did finish the job on time which was good as I had to use vacation time to do this. Communication was an issue, and something obviously got lost in translation - but I'm okay with the results, although it's not what I asked for. The owner offered to re-do it, but that would have been at least another two or three days of vacation, so I decided I could live with it. The "supervisor" or "sub-contractor" (don't really know what to call him) was a pest and a manipulator. Asked me more than once to tell the owner good things about "him."

He showed up the first day to take a look at the tile and what I wanted. I had purchased two porcelain niches. He told me there wasn't room for both (there was), tried to get me to change the way I wanted the listello tile installed telling me I didn't have enough tile (I did). Told me "You have the whole day to shop for new soap dishes". He also told me the niche would have to be placed way up high over the listello (which told me he had no clue). He was the one who installed the sink cabinet and caulked the shower. Just because the caulk is clear, doesn't mean smear it on everything. I have replaced much of what he did.

The owner, the tile workers and plumber were fine. The supervisor. . . not so much.

They did do a very nice job on the tile. Overall, the bathroom is fine and the experience not as bad as I've heard from others remodeling their homes - but that's all due to the owner and the tile guys. The tile guys, DID have a clue and did a fantastic job.

I would use them again, as long as "the supervisor" was replaced. I suspect if I were male, he might not have irritated me as much.
