The initial experience here seemed very positive: they scheduled a consultation for dental quickly and the office space is quite pleasant. Then everything went downhill. The appointment took almost an hour and a half. During the course of the visit, I saw a nurse, the veterinarian, and at some point, two other assistants. It was quite the show of personnel that made me wonder about costs (justified). The real concerns started when I couldn't engage in a straightforward conversation with the doctor. To make sure I understood what she was conveying, I would repeat what I heard, only to be either cut off or the subject changed. She suggested that in order to get the bloodwork needed prior to a dental cleaning I should take my cat home, set another appointment, and sedate her beforehand. This has NEVER been suggest by any other vet, so I said they should take the bloodwork now. The cat carrier was whisked away. Shortly, there were sounds of an animal clearly in distress coming from the back room. It didn't sound like my cat so I wasn't too worried, but when the screaming (yes, she was doing what I would call screaming) didn't stop, I investigated. I was my cat! Four technicians were holding her down under a towel, one technician had a vice grip on her back leg so that she was pulling it straight, a muzzle was on her face, and a bandage was around her other back leg where they had tried unsuccessfully to draw a mere millimeter of blood. It was a kitty torture session! I know some animals have to be restrained, but really? I've had other cats and other vets and have never seen this. Then we got the estimate for the dental, and it was TWICE another estimate from another vet. I was assured by the nurse that this is because the veterinarian is present for the entire procedure, unlike 'other' vet's offices. Yet during this appointment, the vet couldn't even bother to help the techs get blood without torturing my animal. Why would I ever take my pet to such a place? This practice has gotten good reviews from friends who have used them in the past. For that reason, I was willing to try them. After this, I would never take my pet here.

I really like the vets and the techs, but you definitely pay for the privilege of going to a vet in McLean. I have never left an appointment without a bill over $500 and I fortunately have 2 healthy dogs. I am glad to see that they have stopped trying to upsell treatments and specialized diets.

Very professional vets, techs, staff. They truly care about your pet. I’ve gone to this practice for 20 years. Highly recommend!
