I went to Jennifer Diaz to get a treatment plan for gum recession. Based on comments from my general dentist, orthodontist, and oral surgeon, I expected to be told that I needed gum grafting in 3 places in my mouth. I was shocked when she recommended doing work throughout my entire mouth. She also recommended that I bump up my general cleaning to 4x a year (up from the regular 2x a year with the general dentist). Of course, her office would be 2 of those annual cleanings. Before moving forward with such an expensive and invasive plan, I obtained a second opinion. I did not tell the second periodontist about the first opinion I received. He provided a treatment plan that was in alignment with my expectations: I only needed gum grafting in 3 places in my mouth, I did NOT need work throughout my entire mouth, and I did NOT need the extra cleanings a year. Since I went with the second periodontist to get the actual work done, I can't comment on her skills as a periodontist. If you decide to see her and she gives you an treatment plan out of your expectations, talk with your general dentist and consider getting a second opinion.
