Not sure if this is true everywhere but they seemed to be in a hurry to take a payment months before they could start the work. Also the first sales person didn't quote the job correctly and had to reconsider after someone else stopped by to review the work needed 2 weeks after I gave the initial deposit. Just avoid putting down a payment if possible until an actual contractor visits to have a look. Not sure why they want a deposit immediately, considering its months of waititng before they get started.
