Hired Catons after our toilet stopped flushing. We had used them several times before for plumbing jobs with decent results. The newly apprenticed plumber they sent for the service call worked diligently but couldn’t resolve the issue. I asked that he call for backup after a couple hours, which he did, and the company said they would send someone and never did. After working several more hours awaiting backup, he agreed to return the next day with a colleague and a camera for a camera inspection. But returned the next day on his own without backup or the camera. The only option he had was to try again with a bigger auger that he was confident could do the job. I felt bad that the company left him without backup. And after a few more hours, I again requested the company send backup before work proceeded into cutting into pipes. Together the two cut into the pipes, as neither clean out cap could be turned and removed. At this point, the men recommended a camera inspection - on a third day and said someone would call to schedule the inspection. The plumber sent as backup replaced one cut pipe with the ferncos and the seal was water tight. But the younger plumber had the tougher job of replacing the pipe and a new clean out cap. Well it turns out this younger plumber did not seal around the clean out cap, and it leaked! I got the sense that the plumbers who come out as backup don’t get paid, and that might be one reason he had trouble getting backup. But if that’s the case, that is a bad business model. Everyone has to start their profession without knowing everything, & appreciate that playing has an apprentice period. But there also needs to be a period afterwards in which the newly apprenticed plumber can call for backup if he encounters a situation that is over their heads, and the company needs to ensure that both are compensated for their time. I was not able to reach a human in the office again after the plumber was onsite, and all I could do was leave messages that went unanswered.

We have had 2 urgent plumbing issues this past year and Roto-Rooter was the quickest to respond. Both times, the plumber was knowledgeable and courteous. Each job was well done. One job ended up being extra difficult because it was hard to reach the broken pipe. The gentleman had to get an extra tool/materials to do the job right and he did. We thought the price was reasonable in both cases.

I needed to fix water valve on toilet. Because of type of repair, I needed to turn off water, which was turned off @ 5:30 pm. Because in house people had to come back to building, I had to pay $700 to Roto-Rooter & $400 to building, condo assn.
