I was going out of the country for a month, before I left I called to check prices at the Canine Country Club. They were the cheapest by far so I reserved a spot for my two small dogs. They required me to provide food, which was fine, so I did and I KNOW I provided more than was needed, just in case. Upon return, I was told the bill was TWICE what I believed it should have been. As I spoke with their staff about this, the owner was backing out of the room with both my dogs in hand, closing a gate behind her. I felt as though my dogs were being held as ransom until I paid, which I did. Unfortunately, Canine Country Club does NOT take debitor credit cards, only checks! I then had to drive back to St. Paul to get a check. As the owner was helping me get my dogs to the car, she offhandedly remarked, they had run out of food. I was delayed one day in returning due to plane repairs, so I assumed she meant they ran out of food yesterday or that morning. Upon return home, I gave my dogs a treat only to find that my very picky eater, was VERY HUNGRY!!! I then gave them some kibble, which the picky eater isn't that fond of. She ate it like it was a steak!! Needless to say, I was not at all pleased at having to pay twice what I believed I was quoted, having my dogs held as ransom and finally they return to me, HUNGRY DOGS!!! I will say my dogs were treated well, that was obvious by how easily they were handled by the staff and I am sure they got extra attention due to the extended stay. However, I will never return there after paying $1,100 only to have HUNGRY dogs!!!!
