ION Solar representatives were knocking on doors in my neighborhood to discuss solar panel installations. I was interested, and they were very polite and professional, so I set up an appointment to go over a potential system. The sales representative, or energy consultant per their title, was timely, polite, and came fully prepared for meeting. I was quoted a system that seem reasonable both in terms of size, costs, and financing. Fast forward to a signed contract and a sequence of unanticipated events shortly after signing the contract requiring that I terminate the contract due to multiple constraints that would not have allowed for a timely and smooth install. I was well within the contractually permitted cancellation timeframe on both installation and financing to cancel without penalty. This was prior to any site visit to assess if solar energy would even be practical in terms of installation. However, ION Solar has been less than cooperative in providing documentation that they are honoring my timely Notice of Cancellation. A notice that has been delivered by USPS Express Mail, phone calls to their Customer Support phone number listed under the Contract cancellation paragraph, phone call to the energy consultant, as well as an email asking for verification that the Cancellation has been expedited. The great irony is that the financing company they use responded to the Notice of Cancellation required under the financing document once an email inquiry into status was sent. The formal notice was also sent via USPS Express Delivery and telegram to ensure prompt delivery within the contractually required timeframe. Such a sluggish response is unacceptable and if I choose to move forward on some future date with solar energy, I doubt I will choose ION Developer. I can only hope that I can update this post based on a more positive response from ION Solar that they are honoring their contractual commitments, even after the 4th attempt to contact, but until such time I would caution against using this company.
