We had a slate roof. The slate dust was all over the attic floor and storage area under the roof. I thought they were going to vacuum that out. WRONG! I had to hire someone to do it, purchase a work suit for the employee, respirator, hat, gloves, tarps to cover our carpet and a shop vacuum.

Springfield Roofing installed a dryer vent on my condo roof to replace the original one that was a PVC pipe with degraded flashing. It's been dry as a bone through a lot of rain, over 6 months later.

We have a flat roof that needed to be replaced. I received quotes from 8 roofing companies that we had either used in the past or came recommended by friends or other roofers. We narrowed it down to Katchmark and Springfield Roofing. We also received an estimate from Shiner Roofing but the estimate was more than twice as much as the other quotes. However, the Shiner service rep. told me that we would want self-adhering TPO membrane, i.e. the glue is applied at the factory level to ensure a consistent performace and avoid human errors (glue bubbles, etc.). Well, most of the other roofing companies do not use self-adhereing TPO membrane. While I specifically inquired about it, most roofers heard "fully adhered" TPO membrane (which also exists but I didn't know about). Sure enough, when Springfield Roofing came out, the workers were about to slap on the glue to the TOP membrance, I freaked out. In part, I was frustruated as how meticulous I was at my research and yet, I still failed to manage to communicate exactly what I wanted. Further, when I spoke to Springfield Roofing about it, Springfield Roofing made it seem like that 1) I never inquired about it and 2) I didn't know what I was talking about an self-adhering TPO membrance doens't exist.

Having said that, the work started on-time and finished on-time. Springfield wasn't super neat but the workers weren't super messy either. THe next day, Springfield came out to work on the rest of the roof (needed a few new snow guards; slate replacement, etc.) The workers on that job was not very need. There were pieces of plastic foams; my young son found a large nail in our drive way; and loose slate pices were in the drive way (that's how come I knew Springfield came out).

Fortuantely and unfortuatnely, Springfield does have a pretty good workmanship warranty. Otherwise, we probably will not be calling them for future roof work and will not be referring them to any of my friends who needs roof work.
