These people are crooks. They took advantage of my elderly parents, who needed a new water heater. (Possibly … I’m not sure that I even trust that they got good advice on that. I’ll bet it could have been fixed at minimal cost). First, they charged over twice what the water heater should have cost… almost $6000, for a $2800 water heater. Plus labor. And then they told them that they needed some bogus water softener system for another $2600. Total bill was over $8000! Have they no shame?! They can’t make enough money legitimately that they need to scam their customers?!! I wish I’d known about this earlier so that I could have protected my parents from them. Looks like they have a ton of BBB complaints. I’m going to add another one.

Classic upsell: My 96-year old mother, who lives alone, inadvertently turned off the water to her house, instead of her outside faucet. Finding herself without water, she called My Plumber in Manassas. After the easy fix, the plumber told her she had a faulty PRV ("it had water in it"). While my later research showed that the cost of replacing this generally ranges between $350 and $800, he told my mother doing so would cost $1200. He then told her he would replace the PRV for free -- if she would buy a whole-house filtration system for over $6200. He recommended that she do this after he took a water test, claiming to her that her water had "three times more chlorine than a regular swimming pool." He then procured a written waiver from her of the FTC 3-day cooling off period protection, of which my mother was completely unaware, and proceeded to install the new system and collect the money from her. I have repeatedly tried to contact the manager about this, and have never received any response. When I checked online, I confirmed that this precise turn of events is a classic predatory practice by some plumbing companies, taking advantage of the vulnerable elderly community, with their fears and their trust in "experts."
