Our roof developed a leak after a particularly ferocious thunderstorm and the house was relatively new construction. We needed a roofer in a hurry and we actually found them in Consumers' Checkbook. They arrived when they said they would, couldn't find anything obviously wrong with the roof but when they went up they found that the builders had either taken a shortcut or rushed some work up there that would cause water to get inside if it came in fast and at an angle. That's why it took a severe, blowing rainstorm to make the defect show itself. They fixed it in short order and the cost of repair was fair.

We were very happy with our roof installation. The crew was very professional and worked hard. The company stayed in constant contact with us from the time we signed the contract until the work was performed, and then returned promptly to correct a few small items. So far, about a month later, there have been no problems, and our new roof looks nice.

Inferior installation of roof in Dec 2010 - it took a year (all of 2011) and many, many, many calls to get them to try to fix their mistakes. On Dec 10th, 2020 the roof leaked-streaming water into my living room. I called their emergency line while it was leaking. No response. I called the office, left a message. They called back later to say that my roof was still under warranty and that the warranty department would have to handle my problem, but I first had to fill out a form, send them a copy of my contract, and send them pics of the leak. I did all of that immediately. The warranty person (who was not a roofer) wasn’t available for 12 days. By the time he reluctantly checked in the attic using only the light on his cell phone he said there was no sign of a leak. He said it dried up. He used my hose on the roof to try to replicate the leak to no avail. I called and had him return two more times while it was raining but he couldn’t find the leak-all he did was nail down the end of the ridge vent that was loose due to poor installation. Never heard from Shiner again. Finally found an honest roofer with integrity and had the leaking area repaired. I think Shiner didn’t want to find the leak as they would have had to honor the warranty and not make any money. Shiner person who came to look at my roof said that their roofing crews in 2010 weren’t good and a lot of the roofs they installed were failing after 10 years. Slick marketing - no follow through.
