How Much Does LASIK Surgery Cost?
Last updated in May 2019
Among high-quality surgeons, price is certainly a consideration. Most insurance companies consider laser eye surgery a cosmetic treatment, which means you’ll pay out of pocket.
Costs vary substantially from surgeon to surgeon. Checkbook’s undercover shoppers asked the staff of all the LASIK surgeons in the Washington area we could find for the price of a single-vision correction for both eyes. The table below reports the prices we were quoted. As you can see, they ranged from $3,500 or less to $6,000.
We found it easy to shop for price. Call several doctors’ offices and ask whether the doctor performs LASIK, how many surgeries the doctor has performed in the past two years, the price—per eye or for two eyes—and what the price includes.
