I cannot compare to other assisted living facilities, but this Sunrise facility has communication problems within the staff. If a resident pushes the button for help, it may take up to 20 min + for a staff member to respond to the request. The food is good and tasty. The atmosphere is very nice. There are good events help daily. Sometimes Sr. staff is hard to get in touch with.

Food is mostly reduced sodium content; this is not obvious on most items; salt shakers available. Spacious units are far superior to nearby Montgomery Village Health Care, and for substantially less money. Indication of for-profit status: within past month, some care staff were assigned to cover two floors rather than just one; this results in delayed responses and late delivery of meds. Also, over space of recent 6 weeks, two occasions when their pharmacy has required 2 days, and 5 days, respectively, to deliver needed meds. You seem to be out of luck if your order encounters this problem.

Some staff can be surly and bossy.

Atmosphere seems a bit isolating, as room doors are usually shut and the halls seem mostly empty: just a lot of closed doors.

Getting to outside medical appointments is restricted to two days per week and requires advance notice.

Residents seem to be late 80-s and up in age who have largely given up their former lives.

Depending on residents' status and needs, some things are charged extra, such as phone, tv, meals in some cases, etc. This can drive up cost from basic housing price.

Wins hands down over nearby Montgomery Village Health Care.

Possibly most facilities, including Sunrise, are not prepared to deal with multiple medical conditions or out-of-the ordinary ailments; this shows up in the responses of care staff: things are getting better; eat all your food (even though you are overweight), etc.

Suggest that readers check out non-profit facilities first.
