We just had the funeral mass for my dad a couple of days ago. After the mass, I had forgotten something inside the church and the funeral director from Collins saw me go back into the church and he saw me when I came back out. The funeral director knew exactly who I was as one of three children of the deceased. The parking at the location where the mass was held was somewhat dispersed (which was also known by the funeral director), and when I got back to my car and drove around to the front of the church to join the funeral procession, I arrived to discover it had already left without me! Imagine how it feels to find out your father's funeral procession has left without you in it. When I spoke to the funeral director at the cemetery, his response to me was that it isn't possible to make sure everyone is in the procession. I couldn't believe his response -- he knew me and it was certainly possible for him to make sure I had made it into the procession before leaving. In addition, at least a couple of people remarked to me after the service about how quickly they thought the procession had left. Today, I spoke to the VP of the funeral home who is also a member of the Collins family. He basically had the same response, saying that it isn't possible to make sure everyone is in the procession. If you don't want this experience to happen to you, I strongly suggest you do not use Collins Funeral Home.
