I’d sincerely appreciate any suggestions regarding facilities that—unlike Canyon Park Veterinary Hospital—know how to treat BOTH animals AND human customers well. Though I should have switched long ago; I HAVE FINALLY HAD IT with CANYON PARK VETERINARY HOSPITAL—while they may somewhat adequately provide care to animals, multiple members of their staff (both support staff and 2 out of their 3 vet MDs—the exception being Dr. Pasquini, DVM) have proven, on MULTIPLE occasions to be absolute CRAP at attending to human customer service. The business’s owner, Dr. Vaughn, is stingy and fails to adequately train her support staff RE: appropriate customer service; and, Dr. Karen McKee, not only has no interpersonal skills, she is in fact NEGLIGENT when it comes to educating owners about their medical safety needs, in the event of animal bites. (e.g. when my cat appeared to be having seizures—which turned out to simply be an allergic reaction to flea saliva—and my cat had an episode during an appointment with Dr. McKee PRESENT IN THE ROOM: due to my cat’s panicked reaction from a flea bite, my cat chomped down on my finger and latched on in the bite, like a pit bull. Dr. McKee stood motionless as I bled in pain, doing absolutely nothing, until, I had the presence of mind to say to her “Please do something to help here!” After my cat’s jaws were pried off my finger and I was washing off the profuse blood from my hand, Dr. McKee, oh so casually said this, “You should PROBABLY get some antibiotics for that.” Literally, as if I “maybe should...but also could, CHOOSE to NOT go to urgent care or my PCP and obtain a prescription for antibiotics...but, like, whatever.” Fortunately, I checked with my friended, who is an Emergency Medicine MD, who emphatically texted this exact response: “85% of cat bites get infected. Wash really good with soap and water. Augmentin 875mg BID for 7 days if started before infection. 10 days if already infected; Cats are really dirty.” It is my empirical opinion that Canyon Park Veterinary Hospital should be avoided by patrons AT ALL COSTS, and that Dr. Pasquini, DVM should run—seriously—from that horrible place and go into business for herself.
