I had hired Matvey to raise the floor slab in my attached garage last year by installing push piers on two sides of the slab and poly concrete below the slab. My issue was their poor attempt to level the slab below the garage door. One side of the slab below the door had dropped about 1/4 inch. The push pier operator had raised the slab adjacent to the inner door jamb too high, about 1 inch, causing the wall to separate from the jamb almost 1/2 inch at the bottom. To correct this mistake, they had to raise the slab on the opposite door jamb causing the wall to separate from the jamb about 1/4 inch, resulting in additional damage. They were not able to level the slab below the garage door since there were now three low spots below the door. I had watched the entire operation and the general manager was forwarded my email describing what I had seen with before and after images showing the overlifting of the slab by the push pier operator which was caused by human error. The damages to the jambs and floor slab were irreversible. They denied any fault on their part and I reluctantly accepted $500 from them. I responded with multiple emails indicating that the images show the overlifting by the push pier operator and that they deviated from the job proposal by lifting the slab adjacent to the opposite door jamb which was another error on their part. The supervisor even cited a clause in the contract that damages may occur from the normal lifting process but I disagreed since the supervisor did not see the lifting process and I did. I noticed that the push pier operator was not aware how high the slab adjacent to the jamb was being lifted even though I had showed them the 1/4 inch gap below the garage door. The general manager and supervisor kept citing excuses to justify the damages even though I have photos to show the overlifting by the push pier operator and proof that they deviated from the job proposal due to their mistakes. My emails showing the overlifting of the slab and their deviation from the job proposal were just being overlooked and not being taken seriously. I found that they would rather deny any wrongdoing by citing excuses to justify the damages than seek the truth.
