Furnace blower motor made squeaky sounds at 5PM on a Friday, seized up 5 hours later. I disassembled motor on Sat. to try to glue magnet together to its casing and clean armature gunk. (This included even broiling the armature for 30 minutes at 450 to release the stuck magnet!) On Sunday reassembled motor to power up again. Toasty red glow resulted. Drat! (I had to try.) OK, breakers off! Called 6 companies on Sun. Stern was first to call. Mr. Hohl was the tech. who was sent Sun afternoon. As soon as he walked in the door, he put booties over his work shoes to keep outside dirt from our carpets and gave us the general low-down as to cost (it matched what I`d found on the internet) and expected repair date after assessing the motor. Special Bryant blower motor located Monday AM and installed around noon the same day. Mr. Hohl not only did his job well--therefore representing his employer well--he was very personable and even gave us revealing and pertinent insulation information regarding windows and walls on the order of being a consultant. It was really impressive and has had the effect of reorienting our minds on the subject. As the saying goes, "The reward for a job well done is the opportunity to do more." [You should try broiled armature sometime; it`s a bit crunchy but a delectable treat!]
