I found Hidden Lane on Checkbook. After meeting with architect Shane Grey on ideas and budget, we felt he was the best choice amongst 3 firms we interviewed. It turned out Shane was honest and took pride in the project as if it was his own house. The design Shane developed blew us away. We started with everything on our wish list, but the cost was above our budget. Shane offered great ideas on ways to reduce the budget. He was happy to provide alternative pricing on items, such as reducing the height of installed trees or alternatives to a natural gas fire pit that turned out even better than your cookie-cutter fire pit. During construction, he was on site on almost daily. He even placed the location of every plant for his crew to dig the holes. He was always attentive to my almost daily morning emails and happy to make changes, while offering alternative ideas. Not once did he push back or get upset with proposed changes and I didn’t feel like I was nickel and dimed on every change. I probably had a few dozen changes/additions along the way; he and crew were happy to accommodate. As expected, a small number of plants didn’t make it through the first summer; Shane surveyed the site and will replace all the dead plants as promised. The entire process from design to installation has been fantastic and the best experience I’ve had with any contractor. Shane and his crew were always approachable for questions and changes and did not disappoint. My wife and I, along with my neighbors, can’t get over the transformation of our property. I’d highly recommend Shane Grey and Hidden Lane for their expertise, high quality work, flexibility and working within your budget.
