Decided to replace my limping 12-year-old builder-supplied HV/AC. Just had a new system installed yesterday by United Air Temp. Although I was told it could take up to nine hours, the three-man crew was finished in four hours. They install Consumer Reports top rated American Standard units. I am 100% satisfied. The warranty is excellent. I've had their yearly service contract for 24 years - in two different houses. I'm convinced they're the best.

Used this company through American Home Shield. Had over a week of 98+ degree days with no A/C. I knew the evaporator coil was leaking. Finally a service tech came out and told me the coil was leaking (I already knew this). Needed to schedule a supervisor to come out to "verify" the techs diagnosis. Supervisor would contact us to schedule in 2-3 days. Then I would have to wait for them to reach out and get approval to fix/replace the unit. Why all the steps? Company is in bed with AHS. Went with a different company who replaced the unit the day after I called them.

I was a long-time full service contract holder with United Airtemp for well over a decade and was very satisfied with there service and responsiveness to any issues I had with my HVAC system. But nice my heating system reached 20 years old they started to take a much more,in-depth look at the system and the last time they came out they said my heat exchanger was cracked and tha, I would need to replace my furnace. Alsotheynindictaed certain pressure readings were low on my system indicating that I was going to need more Freon which for my type of system is no longer being produced and is expensive to replace. They indicated that with the crack in the heat exchanger that in the fall they would likely not be able to put my furnace into service so I would need to replace it. They gave me an estimate to replace my HVAC system. Their estimate for replacing my system was way over any estimate provided by other local contractors for a system that was not even as efficient. Needless to say I went with another highly rated consumer checkbook HVAC contractor who took apart the old furnace back at their office and found no crack in the heat exchanger. My furnace did not need to be replaced. They also indicated that pressure in the air conditioning system was fine when they recovered the Freon from the old system. Bottom line I would not trust this contractor when they say your system needs replacing. They did a fine job otherwise on annual, maintenance and providing service under contract when problems arise. I thought of brining a law suite against the company but thought it would be too much of a strain to deal with so I decided to not follow through.
