I've been shopping at Central Co-op's Seattle store multiple times per week for more than a decade now. The quality and selection continues to be excellent, and the staff is helpful and friendly (and not miserable like at, say, Kroger stores). An interesting thing has happened on pricing in the last few years. The Co-op never used to be terribly competitive on price. But as the big stores have indulged in more and more price gouging, Central Co-op has become competitive on many items. There used to be many brand name products that were 50-100% higher at the Co-op than at QFC (for the identical product; for example, Tillamook butter). But QFC jacked up their prices again and again, and now the Co-op has the same price -- or sometimes a lower one. (Which really tells you how much pure profit Kroger is making, because I am quite certain that the Co-op is not paying lower wholesale!)

Almost entirely organic, member-owned, workers on the board. Two locations, Seattle and Tacoma.

Refreshing to have a store that prioritizes quality food and safety over profit.
