My husband and I* have been members of the People's Memorial non-profit for years. That bore fruit when my husband died last January. The cremation arrangements were trouble-free and customer service was outstanding. There was NO up-selling. The two staff who arrived to pick up my husband's body were kind, understanding and very competent, especially in dealing with a larger than average body. It was very sweet that they had a grandmotherly crocheted blanket to cover the impersonal plastic body bag. *We are such supporters of People's Memorial that we gave our son a membership as a college graduation present.

From start to finish we were treated with kindness, respect and comfort. They made a difficult situation better.

A couple of years ago, my father asked me what kind of burial I wanted. My answer was more general than specific: Whatever would cause the least amount of harm to the earth. He scoffed. And then I attended my first green burial service, and I could now give a more specific answer.
