We subscribe to Borter H&C's annual maintenance plan which includes 2x year insepction of our system. I never feel they try and upsell me on parts or services and our system has been running great for years.

Had a furnace clean and check. Scheduled months ago and showed up on time. Cleaned furnace and humidifier. Verified everything worked and drained properly. Ordered the annual maintenance program with air conditioner check.

My 8 year old Lennox high efficiency furnace stopped working. I called Borter. They could send a tech that afternoon. I asked about their hourly rate and was told they only worked by flat rates. The price would depend on what the diagnostic inspection showed. The fee for the diagnosis was $98. After spending an hour checking the circuit board and removing the blower motor and module. The tech said the parts were covered by warranty but not the labor. The labor charge would be a flat rate of $575. The flat rate to replace a leaking inducer coupler( also under warranty) was $57. I authorized the work despite the exorbitant prices because I was not sure how long it would take to get bids and service from other companies. He spent 65” diagnosing the problem for $98, 20” on the phone to his office getting the flat rates, 30” total to get the parts and return from his shop and another 65” to install the two new parts and check for proper operation. The total charge was $730. Total time spent was 185”. At any reasonable labor rate I feel the charge should have been less than half of that.
