Different kind of market, lots of things missing I'd like, but unique offerings that take me there anyway, and very friendly staff and fast checkout and friendly customer service.

Smoothest running, nicest shopping carts hands down. Clean, neat, plenty of staff. Periodic rearrangement of items can throw you. Item can be out of stock for months (sunflower seeds) or suddenly disappear (baking yeast). You get a curt "seasonal" or "next crop" if you ask. Products you like are abruptly ended. High employee churn - next month a new crop. Check out is always a breeze.

I have shopped Trader Joe's for years, but do so much more often since the one in Shoreline opened making it one of my main neighborhood stores. What I love - The employees are consistently friendly & seem happy to work there. There's no 'membership' and very little emphasis on 'sales' (no need to check your receipt). They have organic choices on lots of things & some gluten-free items. The prices on things I consider staples - produce, deli-meats, cheese, dairy, nuts, dried fruits, rice milk, frozen fish, etc - are quite reasonable, sometimes the best available. The cost is higher for some 'treats' & especially for ready made meals & salads. The store is generally well-stocked, produce has holes at the end of a busy day. Quality of produce is inconsistent, mostly really good on what I buy, but I've had some bad luck. Refunds are offered gladly, which helps. I appreciated the weekly 'only Seniors shopping hour' during Covid. It's a good place for both singles & families, but I doubt many can use just Trader Joe's. Fred Meyer gets just as much of my grocery & non-food budget, and a good chunk is consistently spent at a couple of online-only options - VitaCost & iHerb where they frequently offer sales of 20% (or more) of a category or your entire purchase (gluten-free snacks, supplements, cleaning products, drug-store items). I go to Costco on my daughter's membership very occasionally to stock up on 7 to 10 items I consistently buy there. I pay attention (mostly online Google & store ad searches) to be aware of who has the best price on what I regularly buy and always buy enough online to get free shipping.
