On several recent jobs, the quality of work was low with multiple errors. More than once they left a mess I had to clean up. Also was badly overcharged on one job that ended up requiring much less time than expected in the quote. After using them for several years, will not use or recommend again.

I had a very unsatisfactory experience with Best Plumbing trying to unplug a clogged kitchen drain on October 17. We were out of the country and had a house sitter staying at our home. Unfortunately, when he experienced a clogged drain in the kitchen, he called Best Plumbing. He had little experience with plumbing problems. When the technician came, he proceeded to try to unplug the drain without looking at the side sewer cards for the sewer layout. He managed to break the kitchen pipes and drains and had to replace the basket strainer. Then he tried to go through the vent on the roof. The incompetence continued. There was a kitchen cleanout below the kitchen in the basement which was missed and should have been found. Using this entry would have prevented all of the damage that Best Plumbing employees caused to the kitchen pipes. Apparently, the field supervisor, Mike Minetti, was called in, but Best Plumbing was still not able to fix the clogged drain or figure out the layout. Best Plumbing theorized a leak in a part of the wall where there are no pipes. In addition to not being able to fix the clog, they charged a total of $1,883.85. This included the repair of the pipes they had damaged. Unlike the high quality one we had, they left us with a basket strainer that is either fully shut or loose fitting so that food debris goes down the drain! In addition, they had our house sitter sign forms saying all the work was fine! No other plumber has ever done that in our long home owning experience. Given the circumstances, this seems unethical. At this point, our house sitter finally emailed us (Malcolm and Lynn Best) in Europe. We said to stop the work for now and to talk to our regular plumber, Archie’s Plumbing. Archie immediately found the cleanout and wondered why Best Plumbing didn’t find it. To fix the clog, we used Fischer Plumbing who went through the appropriate kitchen cleanout and quickly fixed the problem. They were also baffled by Best Plumbing’s approach. At this point we are asking for a refund of all of the charges except for an initial service call. We have paid the house sitter for all the funds he paid to Best Plumbing.

Agreed a negotiated discount, then put through a charge for the original bid which I had not approved; charged me for the time for the plumber to get tools -- which should be on the plumber, not on the customer; charged me for a whole day but the job took only two hours.
